Brian Archer has been a qualified solicitor since 1994. Before establishing his present practice, he was an Assistant Solicitor in a long established firm in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Brian specialises in Criminal Law in respect of PACE advice in police stations and clients before the Magistrate and Crown Courts. He is an accredited member of the Law Society Children Order Panel and the Guardian Ad Litem Children Order Panel.

In 2009, Brian Archer obtained a Masters Degree in Law specialising in human rights & criminal justice at Queens University, Belfast.

Brian Archer has also be accredited by The Law Society of Northern Ireland & the National Institution of Trial Advocates in America as an Advanced Advocate in the higher courts.

Brian, throughout his legal career, has taken a keen interest in the provision of Legal Aid. In 2002 to 2005, he was a Member of the Lord Chancellor's Legal Aid Advisory Committee. From 2005 until 2009 and then from 2010 to 2015, he has been a Council Member of the Law Society. He is a past Chair of the Law Society’s Criminal Law Committee and the Access to Justice Committee. He was the previous Chair of the Financial Services Committee until 2015. Brian has been a Member of the Crown Court Rules Committee and the Court Services Criminal Issues Group from 2009 to present.

Brian has an ongoing interest in the development of services to those suffering with mental health problems within the Criminal Justice System. He was a past Member of the Bamford Review into Mental Health and Learning Disability and outside his work with Archer Solicitors, he is Chair of the Nexus Charity.

Our recent successes include, the settlement of a negligence claim brought against the Sisters of Nazareth in Derry, for £35,000, the settlement of a medical negligence claim of over £300,000, two acquittals in one of the longest running trials in the history of Northern Ireland and on 12th January 2017, Brian Archer represented a woman in the Crown Court in Belfast charged with wounding with intent. She received after a guilty plea, 12 months imprisonment and 30 months on licence.
